How does a HealthTap virtual consult work?
At your convenience, you can do a video, voice, or text chat on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. When you ask for a consult, you’ll be in contact with a doctor in just a few minutes. Most consults are about 15 minutes long, but can last as long as half a hour. Doctors can write prescriptions that are directly related to your condition and send them to your local pharmacy, as well as order lab tests.
What types of health issues can you get help with?
You can talk to a doctor online about abdominal pain, allergies, asthma (stable/non-emergency), back pain, bee sting, bladder infections, cold, cough, depression, diarrhea, dry skin (eczema), eye irritation, fever, genital lesions, hay fever, headache, heartburn (gastroesophageal reflux disease, or gerd), influenza, lab interpretation, nasal congestion, nausea, nosebleed, painful urination, pink eye, rash, respiratory infection, scabies, skin infection, sports injuries, strep throat, travel medicine, urinary tract infection, vaginal itching, yeast infection, and more.
What about prescriptions and lab tests?
At their discretion, doctors can write prescriptions, such as antibiotic medication, that are directly related to your condition. These prescriptions can be e-filed to your local pharmacy. HealthTap doctors cannot prescribe: narcotics, DEA controlled substances, state-restricted medications, and psychiatric or lifestyle medications (for examples, diet pills). If necessary, your physician can order a diagnostic test to be completed at Quest Diagnostics, the largest network of its kind in the United States. You and your doctor can view the results directly on our secure web and mobile platform.
What about privacy and security?
Patient security is top of mind at HealthTap. All of your personal health information is stored in a secure environment and all your virtual consults are HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2 Type II-certified. This means we take data security as seriously as any other world class medical institution. Our security practices are monitored and verified by TRUSTe and VeriSign, supported by RSA Security, and tested daily. We do not share sensitive medical information or history.
