On April 15, 2009, PitchMen premiered on Discovery Channel. A big basic cable hit in its first season, this reality TV show chronicled the adventures of Billy Mays and Anthony "Sully" Sullivan, two of the most famous and successful pitchmen in history, as they searched the world for new inventions with the potential to be As Seen on TV sensations. Billy Mays died of heart failure on June 29, 2009, just as season one was drawing to a close.
After Billy's passing, a difficult decision was made to continue the show without him. PitchMen season two premiered August 19, 2010, and rejoined Sully as he attempted to pick up the pieces and continue making inventors' dreams come true, but without his longtime friend and pitch partner. Billy-less PitchMen did not attract enough viewers, and the relaunched show was pulled from the Disovery Channel schedule after just two episodes due to the poor ratings. PitchMen returned with new shows in January 2011, but no longer in prime time and with virtually no promotion from Discovery. The final episode of the season aired on March 8, 2011, and was likely the final episode of PitchMen, as there's been no mention of a third season. Here are a few clips from the show.
