New Product Tuesday with Vince Offer’s Schticky

Visit Schticky official website from Vince OfferAfter the amazing success of ShamWow and Slap Chop, pitchmen and filmmaker Vince Offer suffered a setback after his February 2009 arrest in Florida for an altercation with a prostitute. Although he’s since made parody commercials like this 2010 spot for Eminem’s Recovery CD, we’ve been waiting over three years for a new As Seen on TV product and commercial from Vince.

Now he’s back with the Schticky, a reusable lint roller and general picker-upper that comes in multiple sizes. Since Vince is the master of schtick, this is a sublimely appropriate product name. In addition to sight gags and double entendres, Vince has added a Grouchoesque creeping crouch to his short-form repertoire. We see the Schticky pick up lint, pet hair, breakfast cereal, cat litter and pennies in this new spot, but it begs the question: Can the Schticky pick up hookers? Here’s where to order.

New Product Tuesday with Germ Bloc

Image of Germ Bloc in use. Link to Germ Bloc official website. My mother was an extreme germophobe. There was no five second rule in our home. If food hit the floor, it went in the trash. Immediately after entering the house, you washed your hands. Touching the garbage can could mean a change of clothes. Mom would have loved Germ Bloc. This wallet-shaped device consists of a polycarbonate plastic shell surrounding a replaceable anti-microbial pad. The idea is to hold Germ Bloc in your hand and use it to grab anything you encounter that might be contaminated with icky germs, like toilet flush handles, door knobs, trash cans and gas pumps. Germ Bloc even comes with an attachable cord reel so you can proudly hang it from your belt or purse and make the bold statement that you’re on the front lines in the war against germs. Here’s where to order Germ Bloc.

New Product Tuesday with Easy Dish

Easy Dish Official WebsiteDid you buy Easy Feet because you liked the idea of a car wash for your feet? If so, you might want to take a look at Easy Dish. This new dishwashing aid, with “over 10,000 super cleaning bristles,” is sort of like an Easy Feet for your dishes, glasses and silverware. Easy Dish claims to save water, time and money. If all of your dishes are dirty, and you tell your housemates it’s because you’ve been waiting for a miracle product to make dishwashing faster and easier, your excuse is no longer valid.

If Easy Dish is not awesome enough on its own, you also get a free bonus Easy Caddy (just pay extra shipping). Easy Caddy solves the seemingly unsolvable problem of how to slide countertop appliances a couple inches closer to the front of the counter. What will they think of next? Here’s where to order.

Walmart Offers Free Shipping on As Seen on TV Products

Walmart has free shipping for holiday shopping

Love the convenience of online holiday shopping, but hate those horrid shipping costs? Now you can get your favorite As Seen On TV products shipped FREE… from Walmart.

Walmart has kicked off the holiday season early this year by getting rid of something all online shoppers hate: shipping costs. From now until December 20th, over 60,000 products can be purchased at Walmart.com and either shipped directly to your home or the nearest Walmart store for free. Even sweeter is that unlike certain popular online shopping sites, there is no minimum purchase or annual fee required for free shipping.

If the product is marked “Free shipping to home” it will be delivered to your door 3 to 5 business days after your order is processed. If it is marked “Site to Store” Walmart sends you an email when your order is ready for pickup, usually 7 to 10 business days after order processing. Return shipping is also free, or you can return online orders to a local Walmart store. According to the company, this special free shipping offer will save Walmart customers approximately $25 million this holiday season.

So slip into your PJs, pour a glass of your favorite beverage and get your holiday shopping done without leaving the house – and without shelling out the big bucks for shipping. You can relax as the gift Camouflage Snuggie and AB Circle Pro Machine are delivered to your door. Or you can cross off all your holiday list with one-stop-shopping when you pick up the Swivel Sweeper G2 for your spouse and those cute Pillow Pets for the kids at your local Walmart. Best of all, with the money you save on shipping, you can afford that comfy Sobakawa Micro-Bead Cloud Pillow for yourself. You deserve it – your holiday shopping is done, and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet!

New Product Tuesday with Dropps Liquid Laundry Detergent Pacs

Dropps Laundry Detergent Pacs

Your Savvy Shopper just returned from vacation. I’d really been looking forward to this getaway. But I just couldn’t relax. I had left a mountain of dirty laundry behind, and I was generating even more with each change of clothing. Days that should have been carefree were instead filled with constant brooding over the tedious and messy chore that awaited me back at home.

Of course, I speak of the dreadful task of transferring liquid laundry detergent from the bottle into the cap and from there into the washing machine. I worried about all the things that could go wrong. What if I use too much or too little? What if I spill? Will I sprain my arm lifting the heavy bottle?

If I’d only known, my vacation needn’t have been spoiled by washday worries. Upon my return, I found in my inbox an email announcing Dropps, wonderful pre-measured pacs filled with super-concentrated environmentally-friendly laundry detergent. Dropps are green, clean and keep the detergent in the machine.

New Product Tuesday with Dry Fast

Dry Fast Dryer Blanket

Introducing the Dry Fast Dryer Blanket, plus today’s new word: Dryoning. According to the infomercial, dryoning is what happens when you use the Dry Fast blanket in your dryer. They claim your clothes will dry 40% faster and come out looking like you just pressed them with a hot iron. Your Savvy Shopper hates ironing, so I’m anxious to try out this new laundry miracle.

Untangle Your Life (or at Least Your Wires) with AppleCore

Before and after AppleCore

What is it about Spring that makes me want to chase the dust bunnies out of my office? All that tangled, unruly computer cable behind my desk has provided them with habitat this winter, and some are now the size of the Trojan Rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Enter the AppleCore, the newest hero product on the office organization scene. For years now I’ve been wrapping, tying, clipping, clamping, banding, or VELCRO®-ing the snarled snakes that power all my beloved computers and peripherals, but this ultra-compact cable winder has piqued my interest. A solution that’s quick, easy to use, and repositionable and reusable? And pretty darn affordable? I’m all about that – do I get bonus points if I use AppleCores on my Apple products?

Soap Magic Soap Dispenser – Are We Getting Too Germ-Phobic?

Soap Magic seems like a good and useful product. There are times (as detailed in the informercial) when it’s handy to have a hands-free gadget that will squirt a dollop of soap/lotion/sanitizer/mayonaise in your hand. But as a society, are we trying too hard to achieve the impossible? We’ll never eliminate every possible source of germs and bacteria, unless we each live in our own separate sterile bubble.

New Product Tuesday with the Garry Ultra Light Vacuum

Your Savvy Shopper has examined every nook and cranny of the Garry Ultra Light Vacuum website and can’t find an explanation for the name “Garry.” I did learn why it’s better than the competition, how it cleans in half the time, the no-hassle replacement warranty and the free vacuum bags for life. But not about the name. Was Garry the name of a friend or relative who really sucked? The photo is of the inventor, Bob.

New Product Tuesday with Streak-Free Cleaning Cloth

I am severely impressed by the DIY spirit displayed in this video for Streak-Free Microfiber Cleaning Cloth. One look at the Streak-Free corporate website will give you a feel for the homegrown nature of this operation. I don’t have any inside information about the production of this infomercial, but it seems like a fairly low-budget operation. Pitchman Tommy Dee doesn’t have the high-voltage delivery of Billy Mays, and his dress shirt sports the Ralph Lauren Polo logo above the breast pocket, not that of Streak-Free. The spot appears to have been shot in and around someone’s home without sets or professional models. Still, it hits all the right notes, with good pacing and editing. I’m assuming that the audio glitches in this version are the result of later editing by the seller of the product. Streak-Free might not be the next ShamWow, but it wowed me anyway.
