So which came first? The Spin Gym or the Jyze Pro? You might remember Forbes Riley, infomercial personality and inventor of the Spin Gym, from her appearance last year on Discovery Channel’s Pitchmen with Billy Mays. We’ve just been made aware of the Jyze Pro, a similar resistance exercise product. The mechanism of the Spin Gym is made of metal, while the Jyze Pro is mainly plastic. The Spin Gym offers only one level of resistance, while Jyze Pro has interchangeable bands for multiple resistance levels. If you read through the comments on this blog post, you’ll see that there are ardent fans (or marketers posing as fans) of each product:

The JYZE (TM) Wind Up Fit! has revolutionized this niche in the market! I use it almost every day and love it!
The JYZE was invented long before Spin Gym and outscores it in every category. Compare:
JYZE is configurable at a higher level; Spin Gym is not
JYZE has add-on resistance bands which allow for progressive resistance; Spin Gym has static resistance
Spin Gym achieves less than 20 pounds of resistance; JYZE goes from 3 to 70 pounds of resistance (with the Fitness Pack)
Try it out today and feel the difference!

robbie — you are so wrong – jyze is big and clumsy — and it seems to me they’re trying to ride of SpinGym’s coat tales — I prefer the sleek sexiness and I don’t more resistance — as someone who has had my SpinGym for 3 months – I LOVE LOVE it and my arms look great — can’t believe the comments I am getting — thank you SpinGym and Forbes Riley!
So, can either of these products tone and tighten your bod, or is it all just marketing spin?

Your Savvy Shopper is certainly a proponent of good dental health, but 30 Second Smile scares the plaque out of me. This is not your ordinary electric toothbrush. 30 Second Smile brushes all your tooth surfaces at the same time. I’m not sure I’m ready to insert a power tool into my mouth first thing in the morning. Has anybody tried this? If so, please submit your review. Any dentists out there? What do you think?

Infomercial pitchman and convicted felon Kevin Trudeau is in trouble once again. According to an article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Mr. Trudeau is being held in contempt for marshaling his supporters to harrass a federal judge via email. Whether filling up a judge’s inbox really constitutes harassment is open to speculation, but Trudeau’s history of arrests, convictions and fines makes anything he does subject to intense scrutiny. Stay classy, Kevin!

Decades ago, women squeezed into Playtex girdles to maintain a slim silhouette (I can’t believe you can still buy I Can’t Believe It’s a Girdle). Later, control-top pantyhose were the undergarment of choice for hiding figure faults. Today, who needs underwear? Kymaro has engineered figure control right into its Curve Control Jeans. So if you don’t like how the junk in your trunk has settled over the years, give your bod a temporary tune-up with these butt-lifting dungarees. These magic jeans also flatten your stomach and slim your thighs. Underwear optional.

Soap Magic seems like a good and useful product. There are times (as detailed in the informercial) when it’s handy to have a hands-free gadget that will squirt a dollop of soap/lotion/sanitizer/mayonaise in your hand. But as a society, are we trying too hard to achieve the impossible? We’ll never eliminate every possible source of germs and bacteria, unless we each live in our own separate sterile bubble.
