The people at Allstar Marketing (they market the Snuggie) aren’t content to have a Snuggie covering every man, woman and child in North America. No, now they want to put a Snuggie on your dog, too. If you haven’t been near a TV or Walgreens for the past year, I suppose it’s possible that you’re now aware of the Snuggie, a fleece blanket with sleeves. Since Snuggie for Dogs is available in the traditional colors that signify gender, I’d expect to see lots of pink and blue lumps on leashes strolling the streets of your neighborhood this fall and winter.
Thanks to Vince, you know the Germans always make good stuff. Well, what about the Swedes? We all know about Volvos, Abba and Ikea, but did you know the Swedish company Bona has been making floor care products since 1919? The Bona Mop is an innovative mop for hardwood and other hard surface floors. It sprays a cleaning solution from a built-in container and actually cleans floors instead of just pushing around the dust. Our nearly 100-year-old home has hardwood floors throughout, and believe me, there’s a lot of dust to push around.
Sometimes it seems like all activities kids are involved in these days revolve around computers, video game consoles or handheld mobile devices. So when I saw this commercial for Blendy Pens with Color Splitz, it was refreshing and reassuring to see that kids still like to draw and color with pens on paper, like we did at their age. But the young Savvy Shopper never had pens with Fusion Chambers!
I felt brave enough today to wade through the deadly quicksand of my email inbox, where I rediscovered The Ballad of Billy Mays. Listen to this charming musical tribute to Billy Mays, submitted to us last week by singer-songwiriter and creative calendar artistPilliard Dickle. I apologize for not posting it sooner, but I hope it makes you smile today. Thanks, Pilliard!
This news we’ve been waitng for! Press release from Discovery Channel follows:
SECOND SEASON OF DISCOVERY CHANNEL’S PITCHMEN IS A GO
- Encore Presentation of PITCHMAN: A TRIBUTE TO BILLY MAYS to Air July 24 at 10PM ET/PT -
Discovery Channel’s PITCHMEN, the 12-part series that featured the late Billy Mays II and his business partner, Anthony ‘Sully’ Sullivan, will be back for a second season. Because of the success of the series first season, and as a tribute to Mays’ legacy, the show will continue. PITCHMEN, which is produced by Original Productions, a division of Freemantle Media, took viewers behind the curtain into the billion dollar infomercial industry, as Mays and Sullivan helped everyday men and women bring their inventions to the masses. Discovery Channel is developing the format of season two with Mays’ son, Billy Mays III, Anthony Sullivan and Thom Beers, CEO of Original Productions. More information will be announced as it becomes available. A premiere date for season two of PITCHMEN hasn’t yet been set.
PITCHMAN: A TRIBUTE TO BILLY MAYS, which first premiered on Discovery Channel on July 9, will re-air Friday, July 24 at 10PM ET/PT. The special pays tribute to the larger-than-life infomercial pioneer – the products he launched, the numerous inventors he helped, and how this family man from Pittsburgh became a household name, ultimately redefining television ad sales.

This is basically the same info you may have recently gleaned from one or more online sources. Billy Mays spots will continue to run on TV. It has some nice clips and a micro sound bite from Sully. Sorry for the messed up aspect ratio. I was in a hurry.
