Today’s email is from Marilyn, who writes concerning her novel remedy for irritation caused by repeated exposure to Billy Mays:

This guy is so over-exposed, it’s disgusting.  I’ve got the solution – I mute the TV every time he’s on.  No more Billy.  I hate the hand motions as well as the LOUD, SCREAMING voice.  I can’t stand it anymore.  I use MUTE!  It works.

We thought we watched a lot of TV here at As Seen On TV Video, but we somehow missed this great Billy Mays-endorsed product. Mighty Mendit repairs tears on clothing, furniture, and even parachutes if you believe the demonstration in the commercial. Hot on the heels of Mighty Putty, could this be the start of a Mighty products dynasty?

We found this report from an Arizona TV station that appears to support this product’s claim of a quick, easy, strong, lasting fix for fabric tears. So before you throw it away, let Mighty Mendit save the day.

Sometimes we get thoughtfully critical Billy Mays-related email. Here’s an example we received over the weekend. In the measured words and fractured spelling of Stan:

enthusiam is good, but please stop screaming thru the tv set, we’re all not idiots and do get the substantive information without the agressive, loud, yelling.  thanks

Billy, Stan promises to listen and absorb the important message you’re delivering if you just stop yelling at him. BTW, do idiots repsond well to aggressive loud yelling? Almost every Billy Mays complainer states that he/she is not an idiot and doesn’t need the yell treatment.

Here’s a Billy Mays commerical that’s new to us, if not to you. We’re vegetarians, and even we want to whip up a batch of these tasty burgers. We have the extended spot for extra viewing enjoyness.

I think this spot wins the prize for highest audio compression on Billy’s voice. I dare you to try and have a conversation while this commercial is on unless you mute the sound completely. Billy Mays commands your attention. Shut up, then watch, listen and learn.

Ever since we posted our Top Ten Billy Mays Commercials, we’ve been getting a lot of email from folks who are not fond of the Billy Mays portion of their television viewing experience. Probably because our website appeared in the search results when they searched for Mr. Mays, they decided to email us in order to share their opinions of Billy. As a continuing feature of our new blog, we’ll share what some of our visitors think of Billy Mays.

Our first correspondent, Bernie, speaks from a position of self-appointed authority:

I have been a TV watcher and media auditor for over 50 years. Never, ever, have I observed a spokesperson more obnoxious than Billy Mays. He is way over-amplified and annoying. I will never, ever purchase anything he endorses…..and will gleefully spread the word.

What exactly is a media auditor? Sounds like a fancy way to say couch potato. I will watch with interest the progress of Bernie’s glee-fueled boycott of Mays-endorsed products.

Kitty, our next pen pal, may or may not understand the irony of her text formatting:

ARE YOU THE ONES TO WRITE ABOUT BILLY MAYS SHOUTING COMMERCIALS??
THEY ARE EXTREMELY DISTURBING….I ACTUALLY DESPISE THEM!!!! SO WHY DO YOU INSIST ON USING THIS MAN YOU PUT IN AN ‘ECHO’ CHAMBER,….PLUS ‘SHOUTING’ AT US TO SELL A PRODUCT ON TELEVISION?? HE WOULD DO EVEN BETTER IF HE SPOKE NORMALLY……WE KNOW WHO HE IS NOW. WE ARE NOT DEAF!! I IMMEDIATELY TURN HIM OFF AND DO NOT BUY ANY OF HIS PRODUCTS.
WE ARE HIGHLY DISTURBED BY THIS SHOUTING IDIOT!!! (INCLUDES THE IDIOTS WHO INSTRUCT BILLY MAYS, TOO!!)

The other interesting tidbit here is her assumption that Billy Mays has handlers who instruct him on how to deliver his pitches. I think Billy probably produces and/or directs most of the spots in which he appears.

Anthony Sullivan is back with a great new product that promises to make interior painting faster, easier and less messy. It’s called… well, let me rant about what it’s called. I guess officially it’s Point ‘n Paint. But I’ve seen it listed at Point and Paint, Point N Paint, Point’n'paint, Point & Paint. Even official websites don’t agree. Anyway, this is really cool product that is an improvement on the foam paintbrush concept. It holds a lot of paint, doesn’t drip, and enables neat and clean edging without taping.
