Thanks for adding balance to my life. My weight lost has improved my health, sleep, and sports activities but what really has been important to me is the fact that by simply adding Jenny Craig to my daily activities (by meeting with my consultant, or setting up my day for success with the planned meals, or setting weekly goals and reviewing my progress) it's added balance to my hectic life of juggling work and family. By going to Jenny Craig I added self improvement to my day and therefore put some balance into my life. I've always been involved in sports and working out to improve and challenge myself to do more and become healthier, but I really neglected the dietary side of my day as my cholesterol hit 310. After working 10-12 hours a day, then going home to met up with my wife and kids there was no time left to get exercise and do family activities. I am 52 years old and my first diet was 34 years ago, I wanted to lose 20 pounds to look good. Since I am the proverbial "yo-yo", I have gained and lost many times over the years. The word "embarrassing" doesn't begin to explain my emotions of gaining weight. I needed to get my act together and my life back. My doctor had been urging me to lose weight for years...he'd say, "Don't let it get away from you", and then he put me on medicine for high blood pressure and metabolic disorder. Dehydrated? Tastes like cardboard 4. Surgery? Pay $10,000+ to go under the knife and still probably gain it back. Here's the good part and the reason I'm writing you.....I said NO, this time it is for the rest of my life - Jenny Craig is helping me put my weight issue to bed for good. The food is excellent (being from Texas I could not give up my enchiladas and I don't have to yours are wonderful), it's so easy to order from my wonderful consultant, and it costs way less than non Jenny Craig food (store or restaurant). My life has changed so much..... I'm stress free, energetic, confident and happy! My last vacation with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law was hiking in the mountains. We planned a hike up a mountain to a beautiful lake for a picnic. When we arrived at the lake (I, of course, got there first) my husband pulled out a baggy of aspirin and said to me, "I guess you won't be needing these then." Unbeknownst to me, he was worried I would have a heart attack. (My sister also showed me her baggy of aspirin). Now the joke is - they could not keep up with me! Now I fixed two obstacles with one solution: The kids and I make an appetizer plate with all our favorites... cucumbers, carrots, celery, mushrooms and tomatoes. I can nibble and they can share all they want with me. It's the perfect solution. Jenny Craig has helped me so much thus far, its hard to write it all down...I have lost 68lbs with your help, but wait...I have another 50 lbs to go to my go and I now have the confidence to say, "I guarantee you I'll make it!" Like most people, I have always battled five to ten pounds here and there. Those five to ten pounds turned into ten and twenty when I got married. The combination of cooking at home, renting movies and bad migraines really helped me pack on the pounds. Then, I got pregnant. Since I've re-joined the Jenny Craig Program I've lost over 30 pounds* and I feel fantastic! And my wife is very happy with the way I look. Six months ago I found myself in quite a dilemma. My fiancé and I were engaged in late December and made plans for an early wedding in September. This became extremely stressful for me because I was the happiest I had ever been, but also the heaviest! I weighed in at 144 lbs for the first time in my life. Sure enough they got me started as a Jenny Craig consultant right away, and I have been delivering the promise to others in situations as similar as my own and to people with completely different situations. One year after having my third child I found myself weighing in at 223lbs. The next day I was having Christmas dinner with my husband and family. Deep down I knew I was uncomfortable at this weight and in a supportive and honest moment, my husband said to me that my size had become unattractive. That was when I finally decided I had enough. I knew I had to take action not only for my personal life, but also for my health. The biggest challenge was finding the willpower to actually join Jenny Craig. It was a major step I had to take towards finding myself again. But, once I started, I was determined to succeed. I had to learn to incorporate more activity in my life. On a normal day, I would start by driving my daughter to the bus stop, but I soon learned any activity was more than I was getting before. So, I decided to walk with my daughter to the bus stop from there on out. I started to increase my walking days and before I knew it, I was jogging back-and-forth to the bus stop each morning. By increasing my activity and following the Jenny food plan I lost 90 pounds! The food tasted great and was just the right portion size. I even gained the knowledge to maintain my new body! With the loss of the weight I also gained a sense of inner peace. Now, the best joy of all is that I look healthier and I feel great too! There's nothing more that I like to do than brag about the success Jenny Craig has had on me not only once, but on two monumental occasions in my life. Let me back up. In 1987 I was 27 and moved to Los Angeles to from Orange County to further my acting career. I had worked at Disneyland for 11 years and was ready to move on. Once I had relocated to LA I realized that my acting experience (although extensive) was limited to live performances. So I got a job on a film crew so that's I would be able to study actors working in front of the camera. This is where my weight gain started. Television and film sets have a thing called "craft service" which is basically a feeding trough for the crew. The hours are horrendous and we would eat not out of necessity but out of boredom. And by 1990 I was 75 lbs overweight! Being fat and funny was a plus for my acting career, but it was taking its toll on me physically, and personally. I knew if I didn't do something drastic I was in trouble. That's when I saw a Jenny Craig commercial and things became very clear. Not only did I lose weight in a healthy manner, for the first time in quite a while, I felt proud of myself and wasn't afraid to look in the mirror. It was my finest achievement. I was diligent in keeping the weight off for nearly 18 years battling with 5 lbs here or there that comes with getting older. Then in late 2005 I injured my left shoulder and had to undergo surgery. The exercise stopped as I went through my six months of physical therapy. The weight started creeping back and so did bad eating habits. I felt weak both physically and emotionally. Then in late 2007 I blew out my right knee at work and had to have surgery once again, but this time it would leave me more handicapped to do barely anything, much less watch what I ate. Before I knew it, I was squeezing into my 38" waist pants and was 50 lbs overweight. I was miserable. My doctor had me on two different blood pressure medicines, a pre-diabetes medicine, cholesterol medicine and an acid reducing prescription. I was a walking time bomb. Then I saw Valerie Bertinelli one night on my TV. It was just the wake up call I needed and the very day I finished my physical therapy I marched into my local Long Beach, California Jenny Craig centre and said, "Please help." Through the wonderful guidance and compassion of my consultant Linda Fleischmann, I'm 45 lbs* lighter, a 32" waist, off all but one of my medicines* (and I only take half of that one) and at 49 I feel better about myself than I have my whole life. People are amazed at my accomplishment and I tell them I didn't do it alone. With Jenny's delicious food, consultations and my commitment to regular exercise, (I do a workout called Rowbics 3 to 4 times a week) I am living happily once again. I do sometimes consider myself a walking billboard for the company and have been instrumental in getting many people, including five movie set male truck driving Teamsters, to join the program. Although I am on a different production, and am not working with these gentlemen at the moment, I guided them into losing hundreds of pounds. Now that's a commercial! I will continue to stay strong and motivate others to stop being a statistic and start being a success. Thanks Jenny I owe you my life, literally.
